Just like that, I got caught up and did exactly what I said I wouldn’t do…I stopped being consistent and haven’t written anything in about a month. It’s so easy to fall into the excitement of starting something new and being on a high right at the beginning…but then life happens. You lose momentum, “I’ll do it” becomes “I’ll do it later”, then you all together stop being consistent. Whatever it is that you have started to put your mind to, this is your reminder to:
PUSH THROUGH AND REMAIN CONSISTENT
I’ve never been in a more busy season than I am right in this moment. It seems there is always an opportunity that I should take advantage of but then I become overwhelmed and crash. Too much to do not enough time, we all know exactly what that feels like; but nothing can ever flourish unless we nourish it. Just like a flower needs water not only once, but often in order to stay alive, whatever we are building needs attention and effort in order to grow. When I first started blogging, I told myself I would write something new at least every other week but I’ve realized that even if I know what to write about, it takes a lot more energy to sit down and organize it. So I’m going back to the basics and here are a few things that are helping me.
SET A SCHEDULE AND STICK TO IT.
I’ve dedicated a specific day and time each week to just sit and write down thoughts, research new music
(click here to check out The Plug) and organize all my posts.
REMINDERS ARE GOOD FOR THE SOUL.
If you’re as human as I am, you tend to forget a lot unless things are written down. I use 2 different planners and create alerts on my phone for important dates, events, and for writing & organizing.
PREPARATION IS A MAJOR KEY.
It’s a lot more efficient to have things ready in advance than wait for the very last minute before a deadline/due date. I’m learning to write my posts in advance even if all I have is my phone when an idea comes to me. Outlining and brainstorming sets the foundations for ideas that you can use to elaborate later on.
Remember why you started and what your purpose is. No one else can accomplish what God created you to do but YOU so get going!
If you’ve fallen behind on a project, be encouraged that it’s not too late to get back into it. The world is waiting to see you shine. #sparklewithpurpose xoxo
